[texts]Depreciation of aircraft - Warner, Edward
There is a widespread, and quite erroneous, impression to the effect that aircraft are essentially fragile and deteriorate with great rapidity when in service, so that the depreciation charges to be allowed on commercial or private operation are necessarily high.

[texts]The disposal of military aircraft - Warner, Edward
The end of the war saw every belligerent with vast stocks of aircraft and aircraft supplies in all stages of usefulness, much of the material being absolutely new. The question of the best method of getting rid of this accumulation is one which has been agitating those responsible for its disposal for more than three years now, but no wholly satisfactory solution has yet been reached.

[texts]Wind tunnel tests of five strut sections in yaw - Warner, Edward
In the first series of wind tunnel tests, the drag and cross wing force of all the struts were measured at a wind speed of 30 mph and at angles of yaw from 0 degrees to 20 degrees. To determine the magnitude of the VL effect, each strut was tested at zero yaw and at a series of speeds ranging from 15 to 38 mph. Although designed as fairings for cables, part of these sections gave such high crosswind forces that they seemed to have possibilities as airfoils...

[texts]Stability of airplanes - Warner, Edward
The author attempts to correct the misconception that piloting an airplane requires extraordinary skill and balance. He also tries to show that airplanes are extremely stable in flight. Some of the major points covered in this article include: automatic pilots, airplanes designed to be stable, and the reliance on mathematics to help in designing stable aircraft.

[texts]Wind tunnel tests of fuselages and windshields - Warner, Edward
The tests described herein were made in 1918, in the old four-foot wind tunnel at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at the request of the Engineering Division of the U.S. Army Air Service. The results were given circulation only in official circles at that time. The interest of the work appears sufficient to justify its wider distribution even at this very late date.

[texts]The organization of airways - Warner, Edward
An aircraft freed from all contact with the ground during most of the period of its operation, is nevertheless dependent on the provision of proper ground organization. The provision of landing fields scattered over the country for the benefit of civil or military pilots who may arrive from any direction constitutes the first step in making commercial flying possible.

[texts]The prevention of fire in the air - Warner, Edward

[texts]The choice of wing sections for airplanes - Warner, Edward
The subject of the choice of an airfoil section is by no means a closed one, and despite the impossibility of making a single rule serve, it is quite practicable to deduce in a strictly rational manner a series of rules and formulas which are capable of being of the greatest use if we but confine ourselves to the consideration of one element of performance at a time. There are seven such elements of performance which are here taken up in turn...

[texts]The estimation of airplane performance from wind tunnel tests on conventional airplane models - Warner, Edward P
Calculations of the magnitude of the correction factors and the range of their variations for wind tunnel models used in making aircraft performance predictions were made for 23 wind tunnel models. Calculated performances were compared with those actually determined for such airplanes as have been built and put through flight test. Except as otherwise noted, all the models have interplane struts and diagonal struts formed to streamwise shape...

[texts]Comparing the performance of geometrically similar airplanes - Munk, Max M
This note has been prepared for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. It deals with the model rules relating to aeronautical problems, and shows how the characteristics of one airplane can be determined from those of another airplane of different weight or size, and of similar type. If certain rules for the ratios of the dimensions, the weights and the horsepower are followed, a small low-powered airplane can be used for obtaining information as to performance, stability, controllabil...
